It will take some trial and error to figure it all out. Monetizing digital distribution is so new it will take some time. NIN has released a free EP sampler to promote their upcoming tour with Jane’s Addiction.

It’s good that someone in the Marketing arena is discussing it. Trent Reznor’s a smart guy and I think this is going to work well for them in the long run.

Most people remember when Musicians such as Metallica were crying about their albums being downloaded through outlets such as Napster, and others were successfully being marketed from the ground up doing the same thing they were crying about. Metallica lost a ton of fans, as well as record sales.

NIN will pick up a lot of new fans from this stunt! 😉

I wouldn’t be listening to it right now if it wasn’t and if you couldn’t have posted a song on your blog.

I’ve read a lot about Radiohead’s album and how giving it away for free builds up the following and increases revenue for their concerts. I had no idea that NIN was doing this. Good Post!
