Is MySpace’s MyAds Destined To Reap My Success?

WebProNews has mentioned that MySpace has launched it’s MyAds ad serving platform, which is old news if you’ve read Chad Frederiksen’s AKA CDF Networks’ first impressions of the MyAds platform last month.

I’ve spoken to a number of affiliates who say they turn off social networks like MySpace during their content network targeted campaigns because the conversions can be very poor.

With MySpace setting a $0.25 cost per click, you’re going to have to look at an offer payout of at least $2.50 (if not, a higher payout) to make it worth your while.

What might work on a social network might be a lead generation zip or email submit offer and if MySpace’s demographic targeting works as promised, it could be a goldmine for smart affiliates.

It’s definitely interesting to see the world of affiliate marketing merge with that of social media, as more social networks embrace ad sales. Considering the number of Myspace users, one would assume that the conversion rates would be higher. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the MyAds future holds. Thanks for posting!

I think there are still no solid way to monitize social networks Ads yet, may be some niches will convert better?

Anybody has some ideas what niche will work better?

    Andrew,

As you mentioned on my blog the traditionally low conversion rates and .25 cost per click could shut this down before it even gets started. I can think of many niches that would work at a quarter a click, however it all breaks down to the conversion rate. Does Myspace traffic convert into buyers? In my experience it can, just at a much lower rate than Google Adwords traffic.
