Is PPC Classroom 2.0 Really Free? What’s The Catch? http://whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/is-ppc-classroom-20-really-free-whats-the-catch/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/is-ppc-classroom-20-really-free-whats-the-catch/#comments Wed, 25 Feb 2009 07:36:14 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/?p=745 PPC Classroom 2.0, a program which incorporates pay-per-click training and affiliate marketing training, launched a couple of hours ago with a reported 13.6% conversion rate for the first 2,500 orders being processed. Over a period of 3 hours, 3,000 orders have been processed.

Not surprising given that the course’ creator’s Amit Mehta and Anik Singal have used the business model similar to “free trial” offers you see listed in the CPA networks.

If you’re ordering from the US, you get the course free and pay a $6.97 shipping and handling charge. If you’re overseas/international, you pay $9.97 for the s/h charges.

Is it’s really free?

Besides the 9 module PPC affiliate training course, a DVD training disc and other materials, you’ll also have access to website templates and a free ticket to the PPC Classroom Live workshop (I was there for the first one in Las Vegas and the speakers and material was excellent).

So yes, you will be getting all this stuff for essentially free (the shipping and handling charge pre-qualifies the lead quality).

But What’s The Catch?

If you look at the fine print, you’ll see that you get access to the “PPC Inner Circle” where you’ll get additional access to training at $97/month. You get the first month free with your PPC Classroom purchase.

So what I believe is that Amit and Anik will do their best to overdeliver on the content and help you get results to motivate you to stay in the program.

If you consciously apply the techniques from the course, I’m sure your profits will exceed the $1,200 per year you’ll be paying for the PPC Inner Circle access.

Will I make $10,000 a month after going through the training?

There’re a number of income claims on the sales page about folks making $5,000 a month, $20,000 a month (even $1,000 a day from my friend Josh Wexelbaum, owner of the Scrappy Business blog).

While you can achieve that, given that PPC essentially allows you to buy unlimited web traffic, you will need to work at it, likely putting in quite a bit of time to test, analyze and optimize your campaigns.

What you’re seeing on the sales page is what the top 1% of students are doing in the course. Use that as motivation to spur yourself to take results.

What will help is that Amit is very open in sharing the techniques, tools and strategies he uses in his own business, and being able to replicate a fraction of what he’s achieved will move most affiliates to the next level in their income level.

The major takeaway is to take massive action, in order to get massive results.

If you’re looking for strategies to scale your affiliate business and bring your business to the next level, be sure to check out PPC Classroom 2.0.

Affiliate Summit West 2009 Las Vegas Highlights http://whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/affiliate-summit-west-2009-las-vegas-highlights/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/affiliate-summit-west-2009-las-vegas-highlights/#comments Mon, 17 Nov 2008 22:24:26 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/?p=696 One of the perks of heading to Affiliate Summit West at the Rio hotel this coming January is the opportunity to meet the various guests on the Friday Podcast, some for the 1st time and some of the 10th time.

las vegas

Next on the list would be the terrific networking events and parties, especially the near legendary ones hosted by the ShareASale affiliate network, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get to bring home a polaroid with SAS founder Brian Littleton in his trademark sweatervests.

This isn’t to say that the sessions are to be unrated. This upcoming summit will feature speakers like previous Friday Podcast guests – affiliates Geordie Carswell, Nickycakes, Miles Baker, Jeremy Palmer, John Hasson, Zac Johnson, Market Leverage CEO Mike Jenkins, Scott Jangro, Buy.com’s Melissa Salas, Amit Mehta, Anik Singal, as well as “Sugarrae” Rae Hoffman, Carolyn “CShel” Shelby, PartnerCentric CEO and founder Linda Woods, affiliate OPM Andy Rodriguez, ABestWeb founder Haiko de Poel Jr, FlamingoWorld CEO Connie Berg, Brian Littleton, SEER Interactive’s Wil Reynolds, Ros Gardner and Ian Fernando.

I think the upcoming summit boasts a stellar speakers lineup and it’ll be a hard decision to split my time between the educational sessions and panels vs time in the exhibit hall.

I managed to squeeze some details from Shawn Collins about the Affiliate Triathlon. He said “There will be three secret events of skill and dexterity and the competitor with the highest overall score wins.” – which translated means you’ll probably have to do something silly and likely mildly embarrass yourself, but will look pretty cool in pictures and do something great for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The event which runs from Jan 11-13, currently still has tickets available, though Shawn has mentioned that the bulk of registrations come in 60 days before the event and are available now, though it’s hard to tell how long they’ll last.

The Affiliate Summit is held at the same time as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and adult industry’s AVN (Adult Video Network) awards at the Mandalay Bay. So catching a porn starlet might be a minor perk for some attending the summit? The affiliate networks and especially CPA networks are known for innovative events and mixers at these events, so maybe we’ll see Tila Tequila (former Playboy playmate Tila Ngyuen and star of the “A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila” reality show). Incidentally, Tila’s born in Singapore and if you think I’m pulling your leg, check out her Wikipedia entry. Obviously, since college students are submitting their senior essays based on Wikipedia, it’s as good as the Encyclopedia Brittanica, right?

But back to the Affiliate Summit…

WineLibrary.tv creator and presenter Gary “Bring the Thunder” Vaynerchuk who kicked butt at the “marketing with video” panel discussion at the last ASW will be delivering the keynote this time. It should be a great session with Gary’s trademark energy, candor and humor.

The deadline for getting your room at the summit group rate of $159/night is valid till Dec 9th, though it’s likely to run out before then. Check out the group reservation rate.

Jeremy Palmer mentioned a code “PKGR2CT” for a $0.02 Tuesday if you stay at least 2 nights. You may or may not be able to use the code in conjunction with the group rate.

Lastly, get your tickets now if you haven’t yet, the summit reservation link is here. [Use discount code: ASW09WHOISAW to save 10% off any type of pass]

If you have an active affiliate blog or report on internet marketing news, you can apply for a media pass.

Are You Tough Enough For Affiliate Summit West 2009? http://whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/are-you-tough-enough-for-affiliate-summit-west-2009/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/are-you-tough-enough-for-affiliate-summit-west-2009/#comments Wed, 29 Oct 2008 12:10:35 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/?p=686 Affiliate Summit co-founders Shawn Collins and Missy Ward present innovative events in conjunction with their signature Affiliate Summit events. They organized an affiliate road rally when I was in Las Vegas earlier this year, with about 20 affiliates and networks taking part. It was truly radio control mayhem as our radio signals crossed and cars, trucks and other vehicles careened into the human drivers and into the wall.

This time round, the next Affiliate Summit West in Las Vegas will feature an Affiliate Triathlon, billed as “designed for affiliate marketers by affiliate marketers”. As affiliate marketing gives most successful affiliates the option to eat and sleep as much as they can comfortably tolerate, the tendency is to put on a little weight around the waist, thighs, face, etc. (With the exception of a couple of notables like Shawn, Missy, Heather Paulson, Ros Gardner, Amit Mehta, Chad Frederiksen, John Hasson, Nickycakes – who are the healthier minority among the affiliate majority).

All proceeds from the event go to charity, which will include the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It’ll be a fun event for sure, though I’m hoping Shawn will give more details. Maybe this year, we’ll see Heather in her bikini at the Rio pool taking on all challengers?

Amit Mehta and Anik Singal’s PPC Classroom 2.0 Product Review http://whoisandrewwee.com/payperclick-ppc/amit-mehta-and-anik-singals-ppc-classroom-20-product-review/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/payperclick-ppc/amit-mehta-and-anik-singals-ppc-classroom-20-product-review/#comments Wed, 15 Oct 2008 21:29:26 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/?p=681 You’ve probably seen numerous blog posts and received even more emails about Amit Mehta and Anik Singal’s PPC Classroom product launch and might want to get an idea if it’s all it claims to be.

ppc classroom

The product which had been speculated to run into the thousands during the product’s pre-launch phase, has finally been revealed to cost only $77 (accurate at the time of this blog post, but might be revised…).

What do you get from that?

A comprehensive 9-module course spanning topics like:

  • Marketing research, including finding and screening affiliate offers
  • Keyword research
  • Direct linking vs creating landing pages
  • Setting up your Google AdWords campaign
  • Designing landing pages optimized for high conversions
  • Understanding and enhancing your Google quality score (QS)
  • Launching your PPC campaign
  • Introducing split testing into your campaign (to further increase conversions)
  • PPC bid optimization strategies

Having worked with Amit on a PPC coaching program for a select group of clients previously, I have seen firsthand how he goes through in a detailed, step-by-step manner the system which he has developed and follows.

Granted about 60% of the course material might be found on Amit’s SuperAffiliateMindset blog or in Google AdWords documentation or during his presentations at events like the first PPC Classroom live event in Vegas last year or in his Affiliate Summit presentations.

What makes Amit different from other affiliate marketers is how he goes about giving you a system with step-by-step detailed instructions on setting up your PPC affiliate campaigns.

I say “first hand” because as a PPC newbie, I was the “guinea pig” during our coaching process, and I got direct instructions from Amit as I was setting up the campaign (and got feedback and pointers when I messed up).

By the second week of his guided coaching, I was able to break even on my PPC spend, and turn a small profit.

Where I think Amit is relentless is in optimizing his campaigns, especially in going “a mile deep” to extract the maximum profit from each niche he’s involved in.

[If you’ve listened to his recent PPC Classroom interviews, you’d know that the bulk of his income comes from just THREE niches].

If you’re looking for great value, you can’t go wrong with his PPC Classroom course.

Where I think PPC Classroom stands out from the pack of similar products in the market is the business management elements he’s added to the course.

In particular, it’s how your structure your business that will ultimately create the lifestyle and the income you desire.

If you look at the PPC Classroom’s sales page, I’m refering to bonus #9, #10 and #11 – which deal with:

  • The super affiliate mindset (also the name of his blog)
  • Time management and productivity secrets
  • How to build a super affiliate dream team

The “Super Affiliate Millionaire Code” covers the mental skills that successful affiliates need to possess. Having the technical and theoretical knowledge is one thing, but having the “inner game” skills or mental mindset is another.

A new season of “The Pickup Artist” has recently debuted on VH1 and not suprisingly, successful pickup artists and successful affiliates have a lot in common. In this report, Amit covers the strategies he uses to get himself “in the zone” to suceeded.

The second guide “Time management and productivity secrets” might as well be entitled “the lazy affiliate’s guide to success”. In it, he talks about his lifestyle, sleeping 8-9 hours a day and working 4-6 hours a day.

Here’s a hint. I’ve often written that quality overrides quantity in most cases. Amit likewise similarly shows through what he does in his own business, how you can accomplish more in your business (and personal life) with less time.

Amit reveals that taking time out to plan your tasks and projects is responsible for a big chunk of his success.

If you’ve been to affiliate conferences, you’ll notice that the trend seems to be for successful affiliates to be over their ideal weight. In this guide, Amit reveals several methods he uses to manage his physiology or physical states, including his diet, health and nutrition, and maximizing his energy and concentration levels.

The third report on building a Super Affiliate Dream Team will be an important reference for experienced affiliates who’re building their businesses and bringing them to a new level.

Almost every business owner will know that the key to scaling and growing your business will usually lie in either:

  • Automating your business systems through computers and software (as top affiliate John Hasson has done)
  • Building a team and/or outsourcing tasks to specialists

Regardless of your choice, it’s important to focus on your role as a project manager or overseer, rather than to go down the solopreneur or do-it-yourself route.

Amit provides specific examples of how he conceptualized, planned, outsourced and launched a project from start-to-finish, and smart marketers will be able to piece together their own team building or outsourcing framework from the steps laid out.

Aside from the core materials which will give a strong foundation to new PPC marketers, and give an insight into Amit’s marketing techniques, in my opinion, experienced internet marketers will probably gain the most from the 3 additional reports dealing with the business management and business growth elements of your internet business.

Be sure to check out Amit Mehta and Anik Singal’s PPC Classroom 2.0.

Figuring Out The 4 Hour Workweek http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/figuring-out-the-4-hour-workweek/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/figuring-out-the-4-hour-workweek/#comments Fri, 03 Oct 2008 08:49:31 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/?p=675 The “4 Hour Workweek” is a popular time management/motivational/personal development book by author Tim Ferriss which advocates many of the principles in Thomas Friedman’s “The World Is Flat”.

Using the power of outsourcing and delegating, and creating a system/framework to better run your business and personal life, the ultimate goal of the 4 hour workweek is to work just 4 hours a week.

clock

Top affiliate Jeremy Palmer had written that he had been working as many as 80 hours a week since May while working simultaneously on his affiliate campaigns and putting together his groundbreaking affiliate training program, the Black Ink Project 2. Not to mention the new version of his Optimize My Site software.

So is it possible for a successful business owner to work just 4 hours a week, especially those who’re active practising affiliates, rather than mere book or ebook authors?

It boils down to a couple of principles that you need to master if you’re going to cut down your time commitment to your business AND grow it simultaneously.

Here’s 3 steps to getting started:

  • You can’t avoid SOME gruntwork: There’re some things that can be outsourced and some elements that just cannot. What you should be doing yourself: developing the basic concept, refining it, optimizing it. Negotiating and networking with likely partners and distributors to collaborate on the project or distribute once it’s ready. There’s some degree of legwork involved in it, especially if you want to put out a quality product or service.
  • Be award of financial ratios: The biggest challenge in creating a $1 million business is letting go of the $10/hour jobs. Unless you like it, consider outsourcing almost everything (aside from the “gruntwork” mentioned above). The only way your business can be made autonomous is if you make yourself redundant/obsolete. Go for a 1 month holiday and if the business is running without you (aside from a few brief cellphone calls and emails), you’re doing ok.
  • Always be scaling: In the sales world, sales guru Tom Hopkins has the says “Always Be Selling”. As a business owner, you need a paradigm shift to think about how to continually scale your business, and harnessing the power of passive income. This may mean creating more products and services where your personal presence isn’t required, this may mean creating a second tier of consultants or specialists who can deal with your customers, instead of them having to come to you all the time (even if they’re paying you $10,000 or $100,000 a month). If you’re focused on growing your business AND maintaining the same level of service quality, you’re poised for phenomenal growth. My friend Amit Mehta has mastered this skill and it’s interested to see how his business runs pretty autonomously.

3 Faces Of Success In PPC Affiliate Marketing http://whoisandrewwee.com/payperclick-ppc/3-faces-of-success-ppc-affiliate-marketing/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/payperclick-ppc/3-faces-of-success-ppc-affiliate-marketing/#comments Wed, 27 Aug 2008 23:29:13 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/?p=657 In the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to talk to 3 top PPC (pay-per-click) affiliate marketers. More than that, I’ve had the opportunity to gain insight into how they operate their businesses as well as set up and fine tune their PPC campaigns.

Although I shouldn’t have been that surprised, still it’s quite amazing how different their approaches are from each other. Which goes to show that there are multiple avenues to achieve your goals with PPC and affiliate marketing.

Note: I’ll be painting in broad strokes here, so expect some generalizations.

super affiliates

(left-to-right) Jeremy Palmer, Amit Mehta, John Hasson

Jeremy Palmer is a name that comes up often, especially if you’re a Commission Junction (CJ) affiliate or if you attend the Affiliate Summit. I’ve found that Jeremy and I use a similar approach in looking at offline research avenues, including books, magazines and reports to research niches, and develop deep, content rich sites.

Given his experience as a web developer, I guess it’s not surprising that he tends to build sites from the ground up. Also, having presented and watched his Black Ink project unfold, I’ve seen how Jeremy uses a systematic approach to building his campaigns.

You can check out Jeremy’s appearance on the Friday Podcast.

Amit Mehta has spoken at the past 3 Affiliate Summits, and given his background as a researcher at MIT’s Lincoln Labs, it’s not suprising how he has a rigorous process to set up keywords and test them. In particular, his PPC optimization process and use of statistics, as well as split-test are among his strongest competitive edge.

Not forgetting that Amit’s quite the “mindset” man in my book (You would not expect anything less from someone who blogs at the SuperAffiliateMindset.com blog). His mental attitude and “inner game” skills sets him apart from many affiliates. Also, his business acumen and ability to scale his business through team building and outsourcing are pretty impressive.

You can check out Amit’s recent appearance on the Friday Podcast.

John Hasson might not be a name that you are familiar with, unless you’ve attended the last 2 Affiliate Summits where John has spoken at. With his background as a programmer/developer, I was very impressed at the level of automation and scripting that John uses in his PPC campaigns.

Having developed a number of shareware applications and his experience as a Microsoft .Net developer gives him an edge, especially when it comes to interfacing with merchant and affiliate networks APIs and backend systems.

John came out with a number of great insights, especially for new affiliates.

Stay tune for John’s appearance on this week’s Friday Podcast (coming out on Friday!)

Do You Get A Gold Medal In The Business Olympics? http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/do-you-get-a-gold-medal-in-the-business-olympics/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/do-you-get-a-gold-medal-in-the-business-olympics/#respond Thu, 14 Aug 2008 23:18:33 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/?p=652 Longevity is the name of the game if you want to be in business on the internet for the long term. With that, scraped content affiliate sites, blogs republishing RSS feeds verbatim, mashups recycling content from Wikipedia, can expect short term traffic, but seriously, who is going to go back to one of these sites?

It’s important to look at long-term strategies to get your business on a solid foundation. That is, if you don’t want to find yourself scrambling from one rock to another, as your “empire” sinks into the sand.

Let’s look at some ways to build up personal credibility, especially in the vastness of cyberspace, where a billion websites are calling out for attention.

credibility

Here are some essentials that every website should possess:

  • Background and Biographical information

At the least, you need an “About” or “About Me”, “About Us” or “About Andrew” / “About (insert your name)”. And having text like “This is an example of a WordPress Page” doesn’t count either.

People want to read and possibly do business with people they know. And “knowing” goes beyond a run-of-the-mill “XYZ Inc is a leading Fortune 500, Inc Hot 100 Tech Startup”.

Pfft. These awards carry some weight, but if you take a second to think about some of the leading tech companies like Dell, Apple, Microsoft, the names Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Steve Jobs come to mind. Personalization if not just a “strategy”, it should be the cornerstone of your success if you want to succeed online.

Going beyond a mention of yourself the person, going a little deeper to include biographical information, adds color and builds stickiness, especially if your audience identifies with you. Whether you were a pump station attendant, McDonald’s French Fry Specialist or an Air Traffic Controller. The “personal cred” factor can be one of the key factors in determing your conversion rate, more so than having the BBB or TrustE logos on your site.

  • Photographs/Images

Yes, we’ve seen blogs containing only text (especially if the content has been lifted from somewhere else and pasted verbatim on the site). These can succeed, although adding images and video gives a huge advantage to those who put in the effort to make their blog or website go the multimedia route.

Some good examples include SuperAffiliateMindset’s Amit Mehta:

Scott Jangro’s Jangro.com

scott jangro

Shawn Collin’s AffiliateTip

shawn collins

From a photo montage in his banner. (Left-to-right – Myself, Shawn Collins, Jim Kukral, Sam Harrelson, Zac Johnson)

A picture says a thousand words. If you have videos, I’d expect they’d say 100,000 words.

If you haven’t already gone the multimedia route, it could bring your business to the next level.

If you have a takeaway from this, it’s not that adding “stuff” to your blog or website is going to bring some magic dust with it. However, given that the internet is constantly expanding, going the personal route or looking inward may seem contradictory. If you try it out however, you may just discover that it pays big dividends.

First off, the site has undergone a design revamp:

When Is A Joint Venture, Not A Joint Venture… http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/when-is-a-joint-venture-not-a-joint-venture/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/when-is-a-joint-venture-not-a-joint-venture/#comments Tue, 03 Jun 2008 19:17:09 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/when-is-a-joint-venture-not-a-joint-venture/ …when it’s abused by uninformed marketers.

Here’s a tip: If you’re recruiting partners for a product launch, or you want to invite me to join your affiliate program, you just want to ask for help in marketing and promotion. That’s not a “joint venture”.

A joint venture is where 2 individuals or business entities are going to a deeper level of cooperation and collaboration – a prime example is my buddies Amit Mehta and Zac Johnson‘s newly-launched Magnetic Poetry Facebook Application.

There’s joint sharing and investment in product development and marketing, the partners might even form a new business entity to manage the business.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for affiliates, you’re recruiting affiliates.

If you drop the term “joint venture” and misuse it, you lose a number of points right off the bat.

If in doubt, check out the Wikipedia definition of “joint venture

Blog Classroom Launches…So What’s In It For You? http://whoisandrewwee.com/blogging/blog-classroom-launchesso-whats-in-it-for-you/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/blogging/blog-classroom-launchesso-whats-in-it-for-you/#respond Wed, 30 Apr 2008 08:01:55 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/blogging/blog-classroom-launchesso-whats-in-it-for-you/ ros gardnerA couple of hours ago, Super Affiliate Ros Gardner and Anik Singal launch Blog Classroom.

If you’re a new or experienced blogger, and you’ve seen the pre-launch publicity and watched the set up videos, you might be wondering “So what? I know how to use Fantastico and do a 1-click install of WordPress”

As a blogger who’s been posting regularly since July 2006, I’ve found that know most of the info regarding how to set up your blog, how to optimize it for search engine indexing and SEO…BUT the content that I’m looking forward to checking out is where Ros and Anik will be giving your their take on how THEY generate traffic and monetize their blogs.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from participating in a number of closed-door masterminds, it’s that often just ONE strategy or tip could be responsible for doubling or tripling your results in your business. It’s not just any old tip either, but hearing from someone who’s experienced and has done it before (they’ve done it multiple times in most cases), can help unlock the bottleneck you’re facing in your business.

So yes, I’ll say that if you have ONE takeaway from any book, course or program that helps you bring your business to the next level, it will have been worth it.

The other advantage of a program that has a webinar component (Blog Classroom has 4 webinars scheduled) is that you get to ask your burning questions during the question-and-answer component (it might be a live Q&A session or via emails).

Anik SingalHere is a predictor of success – you can either wait for the presenter to give their presentation and ask a question based on their content. OR you could find out the topic ahead of time, do your OWN research, maybe even do some testing BEFORE the call, and get specific advice on how to enhance your efforts.

That’s the difference between waiting for something to happen and MAKING THINGS HAPPEN. Which camp do you want to be in?

My buddy, Amit Mehta and I have spend the last 2 weeks brainstorming on how we can add value to the Blog Classroom course, and we’ve come up with a booster “4 part Advanced Blogging Strategies Webinar Series”

Here is what we will be offering:

  1. Little Known & Unorthodox Techniques to Quickly & Easily Explode Your Blog Traffic
  2. How to Create a Fanatical Reader Base that will come Back to your Blog Again and Again, and Tell Other People about Your Blog.
  3. Why Most Bloggers Fail and How to Avoid Falling in This Trap
  4. How to Leverage Your Blog for Massive Profits & Not Just People Clicking on Adsense Ads

You’ll be getting the technical skills on the nuts-and-bolts of blogger from Blog Classroom, we’ll be equipping you with the inner game/mindset skills as well as some of our own techniques to bring your blogging to the next level.

If you want traffic AND increase your blog income, you MUST make sure you are in the Advanced Blogging Strategies Webinar series.

Blog Tips From Super Affiliate Ros Gardner http://whoisandrewwee.com/blogging/blog-tips-from-super-affiliate-ros-gardner/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/blogging/blog-tips-from-super-affiliate-ros-gardner/#comments Tue, 29 Apr 2008 04:57:40 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/blogging/589/ I first got to know Ros Gardner through her book, the Super Affiliate Handbook, when I got started a couple of years ago.

So it was refreshing to hear her presentation at PPC Classroom Live! in Vegas last December where she talked about her network of sites, including her first foray into internet marketing, dating site Sage-Hearts.com.

[Incidentally, I was listening to a recording of the late Corey Rudl’s talk at Yanik Silver’s 30th Birthday Bash celebration about 5 years ago, where he was talking about Ros earning between $30,000 and $50,000 a month back then (which would’ve been about 2003!)]

If you didn’t make it to PPC Classroom Live! you would’ve missed out on the fact that most of her traffic is generated organically and free and her affiliate margins are pretty high.

What’s her secret? She primarily uses blogs as her online platform of choice, plus techniques – often overlooked by pure play SEO and PPC marketers – like email marketing and other social marketing techniques of choice.
Whether it’s her Net Profits Today, Sage Hearts or another site from her network, I’ve noticed that she’s primarily using WordPress.

It’s a good step that Anik Singal and Ros are launching the 2.0 version of Blog Classroom, so you can also check out how wordpress significantly reduces the learning curve to building your online presence (especially if you’re technicially-deficient like me.).

Anik and Ros have put up a number of tutorial videos up, and you can check them out.

PS: My buddy, Amit Mehta and I will be conducting a series of training session to incorporate branding and monetization into your blogging efforts.

Note: must sign up via either of our blogs to qualify for the bonus.

Here’s the tutorial video page:

Structured Procrastination = Loss In Your Income http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/structured-procrastination-loss-in-your-income/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/structured-procrastination-loss-in-your-income/#comments Tue, 22 Apr 2008 18:02:18 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/structured-procrastination-loss-in-your-income/ You might already be familiar with the survivability stats for new start-ups that are commonly cited by entrepreneurship evangelists…

Out of every 10 new start-ups every year, 5 of them will go belly-up in the first year.

Out of the survivors making it past year 1, another 50% of them will cease operations at the end of year 2.

And so on, until only the top 1% make it at the end of year 5.

[The stats are across all industries and according to the company registrars that help these companies and sole proprietorships incorporate]

I don’t exactly know the stats for individuals coming into internet marketing, but I think it could be something similar.

A case in point, I’ve helped sell coaching programs, where we work 1-on-1 with new internet marketers, or people who say they want to make a living on the internet. These guys shell out close to $10,000 a head to enroll in these programs. They’re all fired up in week 1, just raring to go.

You ask them to research 5 websites, they research 50. But somehow when it comes to implementing the project later in the program, there’s some resistance and inertia to getting started.

Some may blame “affluenza” or middle class syndrome. If there isn’t an inner fire to succeed, it’s going to be difficult for anything to happen.

One saying that I’ve been telling new marketers is “If you do nothing, nothing will happen. If you do something, something (which may not be what you expect) will happen”.

The inner game – inside your head – is ultimately going to affect your outer game (what you do).

And everyone has had some experience with “structured procrastination” – “I don’t know if it’s really me” , “I’m not sure if this is going to be a meaningful project”, “I don’t know how I feel about this” or [insert your favorite excuse/reason here].

So in life, there’re going to be the people who sit and do nothing. Then there are the people who go out and do something. And the third group who sit there and blog about it.

Which group do you want to be in?

I was just looking at the updates for Jeremy Palmer’s BlackInkProject which we discussed in the last Friday Podcast. Out of the 1,000 people who signed up (the program closed within 24 hours), 759 have filled in the survey…In order words, 24.1% or about a quarter of the people haven’t taken action yet.

If you can’t take 5 minutes to fill in a survey, imagine the inertia to get your first campaign going…

Incidentally, Jeremy has opened up a BlackInkProject wait list and there is a possibility he might be opening up more places.

My budyd, Amit Mehta’s also put up a blog about the value of persistence worth checking out.

If there’s a lesson in all of this, it’s that you need to climb over the walls to get to the big rewards. If you can’t even get over the small wall to get to the next level, success is going to be a long time in the making.
