In the course of your Internet Marketing efforts, you’ll inevitably need to harvest keywords and keyphrases during your site development.

Developing content featuring these keywords helps you rank for these terms in the major search engines, and will ensure that you’re creating content that visitors will find useful and relevant.

Launched in Nov 2006, Levi’s WordZe tool goes beyond just showing search volume alone, it features a number of associated tools too.

Besides the primary keyword research tool, WordZe also features:

  • A misspelling/typo tool
  • A thesaurus
  • A “WordRanking” tool
  • Historical/keyword charting tools

There are a number of instructional Camtasia videos and new search marketers will be able to use the WordZe tools fairly easily.

The search parameters allow you to filter out adult, drug, gambling and warez/hacks (pirated software) results, so your keyword lists will be more search engine friendly. (the major Pay Per Click programs do not routinely accept gaming and adult sites into advertising programs).

Here’s a sample search for the keyphrase “affiliate marketing”:

wordze

Although KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) is listed [Generally the higher the number the better you’ll do in monetizing the keyphrase. Derived from the number of searches divided by the number of available results], you’ll need to ensure that your base results and searches are high enough to ensure sufficient traffic flows through for your campaign.

You can toggle the search parameters for “broad” or “exact” match to refine your results and add “expand” and “refine” flags to fine tune your results.

Most of the output generated by WordZe is available for download in Microsoft Excel or text format, so you can further manipulate the data using macros and pivot tables and the like.

What will be useful for the newer marketer is the available of associated tools, and you can migrate the data between the tools to refine your analysis.

wordze keyword density

You can use the keyword density tool to measure keyword density on specific domains, and cross compare them against other websites. And the “find related keywords” tool will help you expand your keyword list.

related keywords

The above example shows that you will need to exercise a degree of human intervention, rather than blindly copying the keywords. For example, most of the related keywords for the phrase “Internet Marketing” are not relevant, but the one gem “permission marketing” might help you score more traffic if you optimize your site for it.

Likewise, you can expand your scope to look at your keyword competition beyond the confines of the search engines.

wordrank

The “WordRank” tool also takes into account other authority sites such as Amazon, Blogspot, Ask, About, Wikipedia and social media like Wikipedia, MySpace and Digg.wordrank

WordRank pulls in comparable, such as the above list when I did a test for the phrase “blogging”.

CPA Marketers will likely be drawn in by WordZe’s WordRank geotracking functions:

Down to a city level breakdown:

While it would be foolish to think that WordZe or any other keyword tool will be able to do all your SEO work for you, it is nonetheless, a useful research and analytics tool.

At a monthly subscription rate of $35 per month, or $7.95 per day trial, it’s certainly a tool within the reach of new search marketers.

Harvest Keywords in Your Sleep And Make Big Money http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/keyword-harvesting-in-your-sleep/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing/keyword-harvesting-in-your-sleep/#comments Fri, 29 Dec 2006 18:58:33 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/240/keyword-harvesting-in-your-sleep/ Keywords are essential for all aspects of online marketing.

  • If you’re a blogger, you want to optimize your post titles and/or categories to include keywords so you can be found easily.
  • If you’re an affiliate marketer, the optimal keywords will help you target your paid ad to a searcher’s preferences.
  • If you’re an Internet surfer, type the right keywords into the search engine will ensure that you will find relevant information.
  • If you’re a product creator, you might like to create niche websites based around high value keywords.

A whole industry has sprung up around providing these keywords.

You have expensive software, with costs running into the hundreds as a norm, rather than an exception.

You have web-based services providing keywords for a monthly subscription.

But how would you like to harvest keywords in your sleep?

In many cases, these could either be low value, high volume (in terms of number of searches) keywords.

Other times, they could be high value, low volume keywords.

What’s best is you’ll get these keywords delivered to you every day.

And they’ll deliver it to you free.

Who’s this service provider?

Frankly, I haven’t a clue, but I suspect it could be Super Affiliate Marketers.

If you’ve a sub-50,000 Alexa-ranked blog, you get the priority service, with hundreds of freshest keywords and keyphrase combinations delivered to you, 24-7.

It’s easier if you have a WordPress blog and the Akismet spam plugin.

Just look through the spam catcher and look through the spam comments you’ve received.

Build your keyword list from there.

For example, if you were looking at a pharmaceutical-related niche site, you might like to take the spammers benevolent keyword providers suggestions to include gems like:

  • Smallpox Vaccine
  • Valsartan
  • purchase viagra
  • cialis soft tabs
  • levitra online

If your tastes lean towards Japanese animation (huge demand there), take the spamming idiot’s animation specialist’s advice to build content based on:

  • sexy anime
  • anime boy
  • inuyasha anime picture
  • anime guys
  • anime image
  • free anime wallpaper
  • anime art
  • one piece anime
  • anime toy
  • anime torrent
  • anime icon
  • japan anime
  • anime expo
  • advanced anime
  • anime news
  • anime avatars
  • death note anime
  • anime series
  • anime cartoon sex
  • yaoi anime

There’re about another 100 keyphrases, which I’ll spare you for the moment.

With so many handy helpers on the Internet, I’m just awestruck that keyword providers continue to do a roaring trade.

And on a long boring evening, I might even be tempted to google for “fruit basket anime” to see what the keyphrase pulls up.
