PepperJam head honcho Kris Jones and Andrew Wee at Affiliate Summit West, Jan 2007

If you’ve been reading the PepperJamBlog for any length of time, you’d discover a treasure trove of information and can bump up your Internet Marketing efforts.

In his latest post “Affiliate Marketing – Thinking Outside the Box“, Kris dishes out the dirt on how he recently executed a campaign grossing $30,000 in sales, netting $15,000 in profit. And while some Super Affiliates may net six or seven figures in income per month, consider that Kris spent 15 minutes setting up this campaign.

So Kris has made a killing off UGG Boots.

How would he further enhance his efforts?

Using a psychographic approach to define the profile of the customers, perhaps they’re outdoor adventurers.

I’m sure most of them would need socks to go with that. Perhaps a speciality padded sock which minimizes Achilles heel injuries. If they love the great outdoors, they might be looking for a quality compass, or what about a set of walkie talkies?

If they’re buying the boots for winter use, would something like the Oakley Razor Blades be a complimentary product? Or a stylish Thinsulate clothing accessory or jacket?

By profiling your customer base and crossselling and upselling related items to them, you can effectively double and triple your profile, with ZERO acquisition cost (you’re already ‘acquired’ and pre-qualified them with their first purchase).

If you do a survey and collect their preferences, you can get the basis to develop an information product, which address their questions with pinpoint accuracy.

Perhaps boots aren’t your thing?

It’s an easy matter to use a tool like Google Trends to scope out trend hotspots and prepare your campaign to monetize the trend easily.

If nothing else, focusing on the core business basics will keep you very comfortable and if you’re look for inspiration for your next campaign, check out Jo Han Mok’s Internet Millionaire Code.

Super Affiliate Jon F (WickedFire) Quits the Affiliate Marketing Fray http://whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/super-affiliate-jon-f-wickedfire-quits-the-affiliate-marketing-fray/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/super-affiliate-jon-f-wickedfire-quits-the-affiliate-marketing-fray/#comments Fri, 12 Jan 2007 14:02:25 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/affiliate-marketing/super-affiliate-jon-f-wickedfire-quits-the-affiliate-marketing-fray/ If you’re keen on affiliate marketing, chances are you would’ve checked out Jon’s affiliate marketing blog and his notably famous (or infamous) WickedFire forum, the equivalent of the raucous Mos Eisley cantina (of Star Wars fame) filled with arbitrage affiliate marketing old hands and young guns.

Jon got the attention of the community when he posted $80k+ screenshots of his earnings at the SitePoint forums.

So it was a little of a shock to see him announce: The End Of An Era – Jon Resigns From Affiliate Marketing As An Affiliate.

But then again, it wasn’t all that surprising, considering most Super Affiliates like Ewen Chia, Ros Gardner and co. eventually shift to creating their own products or launching a new business.

The leverage of having planned and operating an affiliate campaign for another product creator, giving them invaluable insight in managing their own army of affiliates.

For someone in his “mid-20s” and racking up 12 years of affiliate marketing experience, I can see where he’d move in the direction of his own venture. As he mentions:

As some of you have heard, we are making our own sites, with our own merchant accounts, our own content, and our own private (beta until July) affiliate program.

The details of the new venture aren’t out yet, though I’m sure known Jon and the WF team, it’ll be something off the beaten track and will send more than a few ripples through the industry.

Will there be some interesting questions coming up during Jon and Shoemoney’s session at Affiliate Summit West?

You bet.

SEO Link Snooping with GoogleBrowser http://whoisandrewwee.com/search-engine-optmization-seo/googlebrowser-seo/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/search-engine-optmization-seo/googlebrowser-seo/#comments Tue, 09 Jan 2007 20:58:26 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/search-engine-optmization-seo/googlebrowser-seo/ Fundamental to SEO is the ability to track links to your site. Especially since the search engines give preference to offsite optimization, compared to onsite measure.

Typical backlink tracers like SEO Elite and iwebtool give linear tabular reports.

What I liked about TouchGraph’s GoogleBrowser is the ability to visualize the links in 3D.

Witness:

google browser

The GoogleBrowser is interactive, meaning you’ll be able to zoom in on a cluster, isolate inbound and outblound links and check out high authority sites you’re linked to.

Obviously, this tool has competitive intelligence functions in allowing you to

scope out the source of authority sites linked to a competitors site.

Alternatively if you’re an affiliate marketer, it gives you an easy way to identify other super affiliates marketing a product (obviously, they’d backlink to the sales page on the product owners site).

Does GoogleBrowser invalidate other SEO products?

Hardly. It gives you a framework to look at links, and more importantly analyze high authority site which are linked to you. It won’t easily replace the other features you’d find in Brad Callen’s SEO Elite, or provide the depth of information you’d find in Aaron Wall’s SEO Book.

Head to Las Vegas in 2007 for Affiliate Marketing Strategies, Tips and Secrets http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing-events/affiliate-summit-west-2007/ http://whoisandrewwee.com/internet-marketing-events/affiliate-summit-west-2007/#comments Thu, 28 Dec 2006 00:43:31 +0000 http://www.whoisandrewwee.com/236/affiliate-summit-west-2007/ It’s confirmed, I’ll be heading to Las Vegas in late January for Shawn Collins’ Affiliate Summit West 2007.

I’ll be heading to the US for this event which’ll be useful to bring my affiliate marketing skills to a new level.

Highlights for the event include topics such as:

  • Marketing Your Affiliate Site – Outside of the Box
  • How to Recruit Super Affiliates
  • Optimizing with Your Merchant Partner
  • The Current State of Online Lead Generation
  • Anatomy of a Viral Video — Maximum ROI
  • Search Affiliates: Partners or Parasites?
  • Optimizing Landing Pages
  • Next Generation Affiliate Recruitment – Why What You Know Doesn’t Work Anymore
  • Panel: Lead Generation the New Kids On the Block

What I’m looking forward to though are three sessions:

  • Bloggers – The New Super Affiliates (Super affiliates today are essentially the webmasters from 5-10 years ago. Bloggers are the next wave of super content producers, soon to be turned super affiliates; this session will discuss what affiliate managers can do with them.)
  • What is Your Affiliate Management IQ? (Anik Singal, CEO, Affiliate Classroom, Inc.)
  • Ask the Experts: Super Affiliates (This will is expected to be crazy because super affiliates Jon F (aojon.com and wickedfire.com) and Jeremy “Shoemoney” Schoemaker (shoemoney.com and shomemoneymedia.com) will be on the panel)

Oh, and Andrea wanted me to mention that I am excited to finally meet the infamous, beautiful and talented PlanetAndrea. (I think that’s all the adjectives she wanted me to include).

Will you be headed to Affiliate Summit West?
