{"id":68,"date":"2006-08-16T11:23:02","date_gmt":"2006-08-16T03:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whoisandrewwee.com\/2006\/08\/16\/building-your-internet-marketing-empire-from-scratch\/"},"modified":"2006-08-16T11:23:02","modified_gmt":"2006-08-16T03:23:02","slug":"building-your-internet-marketing-empire-from-scratch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/whoisandrewwee.com\/internet-marketing\/building-your-internet-marketing-empire-from-scratch\/","title":{"rendered":"Building your Internet Marketing empire from scratch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For those taking your tentative steps in Internet Marketing, it can be quite overwhelming.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m getting flooded by all the material on blogging, product creating, affiliate marketing, adsense, domain parking, etc.<\/p>\n<p>To make sense of it all, i&#8217;d suggest to focus on <strong>ONE area, and work on it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s not much point to know a bit about everything, but not be able to implement any one thing, really well.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, it&#8217;s better to be a &#8220;one-trade master&#8221; than a jack-of-all-trades and master of none.<\/p>\n<p>In the midst of my learning, I&#8217;ve been sidetracked a number of time, and took a bit of time to regain the track.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;re some steps to get focused:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Set aside a block of time to establish mastery in a single area<\/strong>. Depending on how many hours you are able to commit 1 to 2 weeks is a good period of time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get into the habit of spending at least 1 hour a day in this subject area<\/strong>. During this turn, you can choose to go somewhere where you are free of all distracts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Go into it full force<\/strong>. Check out websites, blogs, forums, printed books from the library and bookstores, sign up for mailing lists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Are you familiar with your selected area?<\/p>\n<p>Take the following self-test:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Briefly summarize this technology<\/li>\n<li><strong>How can you and others benefit from it?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Who are the major players in this subject area?<\/li>\n<li>What are the major issues currently?<\/li>\n<li>What&#8217;s in the next stage of development for this area?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are able to confidently answer these issues, especially the benefits, you&#8217;ll be able to verbalize and apply this knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>As you establish proficiency in your selected area and only after you are feeling reasonably confident, should you move on to the next area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For those taking your tentative steps in Internet Marketing, it can be quite overwhelming.
