{"id":783,"date":"2009-05-25T18:31:59","date_gmt":"2009-05-25T10:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whoisandrewwee.com\/?p=783"},"modified":"2009-05-25T18:31:59","modified_gmt":"2009-05-25T10:31:59","slug":"is-myinternetbusiness-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/whoisandrewwee.com\/internet-marketing\/is-myinternetbusiness-scam\/","title":{"rendered":"Is MyInternetBusiness A Scam?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Embedded in the emails sent to this blog was an offer to &#8220;find out more&#8221; about MyInternetBusiness, a business opportunity targeted at the &#8220;Recessionaire&#8221; (someone who accumulates wealth during a recession), but is it really all its cracked up to be?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whoisandrewwee.com\/images\/blog0905\/myinternetbusiness-scam.jpg\" alt=\"myinternetbusiness scam\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First some warning signs &#8211; emails came in with a suggestion to visit an affiliate link.<\/p>\n<p>Next the opt-in page lists promises of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> &#8220;$30k in 30 days&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Do Nothing Make Money<\/li>\n<li>We do it all for you<\/li>\n<li>Passive Income<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While I&#8217;m not one to pass on a free handout, especially if some other <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">poor sap<\/span> hardworking guy is out there working his butt off to earn me $30k a month, I just have to wonder <!--more-->at their intelligence of working for someone else.<\/p>\n<p>If they&#8217;re so smart, shouldn&#8217;t they be working for themselves?<\/p>\n<p>So some smart bizop seekers will type search phrases like &#8220;MyInternetBusiness Scam&#8221; or &#8220;MyInternetBusiness Review&#8221; or &#8220;YourNetBiz.com review&#8221; or &#8220;YourNetBiz.com scam&#8221; into the search engines.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;d likely see a whole string of positive reviews of apparently &#8220;success&#8221; MIB owners.<\/p>\n<p>So what&#8217;s the catch?<\/p>\n<p>Having evaluated a number of these business opportunities previously, I have to wonder:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How do you make a living if you do nothing and have others work for you? Aside from a network marketing\/MLM multi level marketing\/ponzi\/pyramid scheme?<\/li>\n<li>If your time is spent recruiting a downline or &#8220;distributors&#8221;, are you just a glorified boiler room peon, much like the men in Glengarry Glen Ross?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a great performance by Alec Baldwin from Glengarry Glen Ross:<\/p>\n<p><code><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/y-AXTx4PcKI&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/y-AXTx4PcKI&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/code><\/p>\n<p>Watching a movie and doing it in real life is a different barrel of fish however.<\/p>\n<p>The promise to &#8220;earn money immediately&#8221; by earning &#8220;$300-2,000&#8221; per sale will likely come from your downline paying double that amount, with the other half going to the company.<\/p>\n<p>The major issue I have with the program is that it doesn&#8217;t look like you will be learning much, and might be spending time recruiting more people into the system.<\/p>\n<p>Spending time building a long-term and credible internet business requires:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Time<\/li>\n<li>Effort<\/li>\n<li>Money<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Any other system which has you doing very little to earn a lot should fire up a warning sign if it hasn&#8217;t already.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Why not focus on building <a title=\"affiliate marketing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whoisandrewwee.com\/affiliate-marketing\/affiliate-networks-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\">affiliate marketing skills<\/a> and building your own internet business?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Embedded in the emails sent to this blog was an offer to &#8220;find out more&#8221; about MyInternetBusiness, a business opportunity targeted at the &#8220;Recessionaire&#8221; (someone who accumulates wealth during a recession), but is it really all its cracked up to be?
