Killer Blogging App: w.bloggar

I saw this blogging application mentioned by bigbyte over at the Wicked Fire forum (Easy Blog Updates).

w.bloggar is a desktop-based blog editor which supports an impressive list of blogging platforms including the following:

Blog Services

  • Blogger
  • MSN Spaces
  • TypePad
  • BigBlogTool
  • Blogalia
  • TheBlog
  • Blog-City
  • EraBlog.NET
  • Upsaid
  • UBlog
  • SquareSpace
  • BlogWare
  • DearDiary.Net

Blog Tools

  • MovableType
  • Nucleus
  • b2
  • WordPress
  • b2 evolution
  • Blog:CMS
  • .Text
  • BlogWorks XML
  • Drupal
  • LiveJournal
  • pMachine
  • Xoops
  • E-Xoops
  • PostNuke
  • blojsom
  • Roller Weblogger
  • Domino
  • YACS
  • Xaraya

There’s a definite attraction to having a desktop-based blog editor (especially in the light of the Taiwan earthquake).

Even if you will eventually need to paste the post content into your blog’s administration panel because of other plugins you need to activate, w.bloggar gives you the flexibility to pre-write blog posts and paste them.

Understandably, you could write the raw HTML in a text file. Although I feel this detracts from the blogging process.

I think my buddy Ryan, who’s fooling around with the performancing plugin and experimenting over at “This Is A Test” will find this useful.

w.bloggar used to be good, but has not been updated since March last year.

The Windows Live Writer is pretty useful too, and does support WordPress blogs as well.

    hey andrew,

yep w.blogger is a great tool..use it before..altho not to its full potential.

i dun think you need to cut and paste with it…it can be configure to direct link to ur blog without even login into ur blog online.

u can even save your post for a latter time and post it directly to ur blog. just write them using w.blogger and press the post button it will instantly post on the real blog online. I believe you just need to fill in ur admin login details for that.

this sure is a useful tool to have especially with all this 404 page showing and where bandwith matters..lol

i can say “w.bloggar” rules in windows platform where “ecto” (darren rowse use this if not mistaken) rules in mac

    hapi new yr mate…

    Hi Brennan,
It’s a killer app in that affiliate marketers have tested it and are using it as a tool in their income generation efforts. (which is my metric for usefulness, rather than sophistication of technology).

Ecto (http://ecto.kung-foo.tv/) might have a higher whiz bang factor, though over at ProBlogger (http://www.problogger.net/archives/2005/06/21/making-the-most-of-ecto) there’s a mention that the Mac version supercedes the Windows version.

    Hey Kevin,
happy new year to you too!

Saw your reply after I filed the earlier responses, ah well.

I guess anyone keen on doing offline post creation will likely download 2-3 desktop blogging clients and select their favourite.

WBloggar currently appears to have a major flaw.

When you post on a blog that uses the new blogger, it will not take the contents of the title field and put them into the tiltle of the post.

Has anyone found a way to fix this in the custom setup?

Hi there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using?
I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having a difficult time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.

The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had
    to ask!

This design is wicked! You definitely know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful
job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that,
how you presented it. Too cool!

Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wished to say that I
have really enjoyed browsing your blog posts.
After all I’ll be subscribing to your rss feed and I
hope you write again very soon!
