Using WordPress in your domain? Some potential issues…

I was surfing the 9Rules blogging network and came across Lorelle’s post:

Using WordPress in Your Domain Name? Don’t!

I guess lots of people (myself included) take brand names, trademarks and intellectual property for granted at times.

We’re so used to ‘using’ a brandname as a verb or a noun, that we don’t realize that technically, we’re eligible to legal action if someone chooses that course of action. (more…)

Want to get into 9rules? Apply now!

This is really late notice.

But you might have a chance to slip in before the door slams shut.

Blogging network 9rules has opened a 24 hour window to accept new submissions into it’s network.

The benefits?

If accepted, you can expect greater exposure and access to an established blog network. (more…)

WordPress goes the Multi-User and Forum route

Just announced about half an hour ago, the WordPress developed has launch two new releases:

  • WordPress Multi-user 1.0
  • bbPress 0.72

According to their offical release:

  • WordPress MU is an official branch of WordPress designed for managing and hosting thousands of blogs instead of just one.

Some other facts about WordPress MU:

  • It’s powering WordPress.com
  • has been in heavy development for about a year
  • WordPress MU is best suited for a more server-savvy audience.
  • Can downloaded at: WordPress MU site.
  • bbPress is forum software (with the WordPress touch)

Developed by the WordPress folks, it has cool features like:

  • tagging
  • RSS feeds
  • Akismet spam protection
  • AJAX interaction

The development team focused on creating something fast and light. bbPress can power a forum with hundreds of thousands of posts with just a fraction of the load as WordPress.

The most compelling for WordPress users, is that bbPress supports complete user and login integration with WP.

Matt goes on to say: bbPress is not quite 1.0 yet, some of you may recognize the 0.72 version number from the early days of WordPress, but if you’re searching for a little something fresh in forum software, try downloading bbPress and giving it a go.

Thousands of dollars worth of Internet Marketing knowledge for f.ree

This is something funny that happens over and over again.

People ask me basic questions like:

  • What should I blog about?
  • How do I do affiliate marketing?
  • How do I sell a product or service?
  • How do I get paid?
  • What products do you sell?
  • How much do you get paid?

On good days, I give them the secret answer.

On bad days:

Stress

one word.

ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

It is frustrating to be asked the same questions over and over again.

Here’s the secret answer.

WhoIsAndrewWee.com top affiliate for SecretBlogWeapon.com 2nd time running

Thanks to all the loyal WhoIsAndrewWee.com supporters who’ve made this site the top affiliate for Gobala Krishnan’s excellent blogging tool, the WordPress Adsense System (WAS) for the second month running.

Fireworks

Besides having had the satisfaction of promoting a powerful and effective tool, I’m looking forward to the top affiliate prize, a Canon digital camera (which I’m planning to get Amazon credit in lieu).

Check out Gobala’s post here: Andrew Wee Bags Top Affiliate Spot for September

I’ve received a number of questions about SecretBlogWeapon and why I find it really powerful.

Here’s a synopsis:

What I especially like is that for a low priced tool, it covers the following aspects:

  • Niche Research: Go through Kidino‘s excellent SEO (Search Engine Optimization) guide as he goes through a step-by-step process of finding and developing a niche
  • Search Engine Optimization: As mentioned, Kidino’s guide goes through SEO, while Gobala goes through the specifics for Blog SEO Optimization. While doing research, I noticed that most SEO doesn’t focus on blogs, aside from talking about the header tags and meta tags. (Ewen Chia’s Auto Blog Income Generator also goes into some SEO). Gobala goes into revamping your permalinks (blog site structure) and the blog formatting to make it more attractive to the search engines and hence, rank higher on the SERPs (search engine results pages)
  • Traffic generation: 176 blog and traffic generators, a good starting point to kick off and build your readership.
  • RSS Submission software: Although nothing beats a manually submitted blog entry to a blog or website directory, the RSS submission software eases some of the effort (especially when you’re managing multiple blogs).
  • Blogging for Profits: truth be told, I haven’t read this yet. I’ve already generated a flood of traffic from the other avenues.
  • Social Bookmarking: This will continue to be a trend with sites like Digg, Del.icio.us, BlinkBits, Furl (there are more than 30 such networks). Gobala goes into the benefits of these networks and how to leverage them to generate traffic.
