Until I’d read Jay Conrad Levinson’s (founder of Guerilla Marketing) tips to the Guerilla approach to getting value out of trade shows, I’d realized that like the majority of trade show attendees I didn’t have a strategy in place.
Here’s some tips which will help you up your trade show game:
Why go to a trade show or convention like Affiliate Summit West?
Most would go to:
- Find out what’s new
- See and find out about their competitiors (whether fellow affiliate marketers or affiliate managers) and compare prices
- Collect literature from the various exhibitors, evalute their content
- Massive time leverage: events provide the opportunity to collect a vast amount of information in a short time
- Meet contacts
- Get media exposure
- Casual business networking

WickedFire founder Jon F just announced the beta launch of the affiliate marketing forums’ resource areas earlier today.
WickedFire is virtual home to several experienced affiliate marketers (as evidenced by threads like “Post Your Stats“, including a purported $16 million buyout offer for the 8 month old forum.

If you’ve been planning to build highly profitable niche websites, or looking for ways to squeeze additional profit from your already successful ones, you might’ve seen Matt Coddington (AKA Feroz) posts in WickedFire’s “How to Start a Niche Minisite” thread.

After I finish up at Affiliate Summit West, I’ll be heading off to California where I’ll spend another 3 days in the LA area before heading back to Singapore.
I’m figuring out the best way to check if anyone would like to meet for coffee and chat a little, since my trips to the US tend to be few and far between these days.

The WordPress development team just announced that an incremental WordPress upgrade version 2.0.7 has been released to patch:
- A potential PHP issue that might cause a security vulnerability
- A Feedburner issue related to WordPress 2.0.6.
