Tips for Profit-Oriented Bloggers

I’ve got feedback from newer bloggers who are having difficulties generating consistent income from their blogging efforts.

Blogging can be a profitable and fulfiling venture. If you have a strategy in place, you’ll not only see your pool of regular readers grow in time, but you’ll build a community of readers and learn from them in the process.

9Rules Round 5 Community Update

Fresh off the press, 9rules Community Director Tyme White announced in the 9Rules blog this morning: Round 5 Update

I’m more than 3/4 through the list (first pass). That’s when I bumped into some serious organization problems. What worked with 700 sites doesn’t work with 1191 so…thanks to Scrivs helping me out today, Tyme is more organized.

My goal is to finish the first pass this weekend, start the second pass (smaller) by Tues.

It certainly is a mammoth task sifting through 1191 blog entries, especially since the near doubling of entries since the last round. (more…)

As you’re developing your blog and working towards the upper echelons of the bloggerati, consider the following factors which Robert and Maryam Scoble presented at the recent Blog Business Summit.

Killer Blog

The logic behind linking to other blogs is that if you’re a genuine content blog, it’s likely the blogger will link back. And you’ll see link love in action as traffic flows back and forth between the two blogs.

It helps to link to credible blogs within your space, and to a blogger you’re regularly reading.

How to Abuse and Effectively Use Blog Link Strategies

Most of the traffic to this blog is generated from blog comments and forum postings.

I’ll focus on blog comments today.

There are a number of misguided bloggers and website owners out there who believe that posting spam comments on a blog will help their SEO and traffic efforts.

It’s easy to identify these comments as they’d usually be preceded with a generic comment like: “Fun and interesting site” or “This is a good site” before ending off with a hyperlink to their own site.

The newer practitioners of this tactics will attempt to manually copy and paste the comment in the comments area of a blog post. (more…)
