Tag! You’re It, MyBlogLog 2.0

Yahoo! blog community service MyBlogLog has added tagging to its arsenal of killer app features. An innovative use is the ability to tag spammer and regulate the flow of overzealous mass messaging within the service.

The new tagging feature allows you, as well as other MyBlogLog members to issue tags to your personal and community profile.

For example, someone could tag you as “SEO Expert”, making you easier to find.

As a set of common tags proliferate, I can see tagging as the basis of creating another level of connection within the community.

I created a fictious “mamalemon” tag on my personal profile and entered that keyword into the MyBlogLog search engine. It didn’t find my profile (it reported zero results).

Bumping up Your Affiliate Marketing Quotient

There are several ways to increase your affiliate marketing knowledge and they come with varying degrees of effort and resources required, but they generally fall into: information products, speaking to someone in person and forums/blog.

Speaking to an affiliate or super affiliate (generally referring to someone who makes at least $10,000 in profit from affiliate marketing) is hands-down the best way. You get to ask your question, get an answer, ask a follow up question and get an answer almost immediately.

Another solution is to gain information via an information product. This being Internet Marketing, your first inclination might be towards ebooks, but take note that this category also includes videos, DVDs, audio CDs and printed magazines and books. The depth of information might not be as comprehensive as talking to someone face-to-face, or maybe over an instant messenger or email, but what you lack in personalized attention is more than made up by the breadth of information available.

Technorati Kicks Their Analytics Up A Notch

If you’ve been blogging for any length of time, you’d have heard of Technorati, the blog community site. They’ve recently revamped their stats and ranking system to factor in social factors. The net result? This blog has seen a jump in rankings, testament to the fact that social traffic strategies work.

Let’s look at the new stats panel:

Blog Authority is measured by the number of blogs that link to you, with each blog amount to a single ‘vote’ or count in the blog authority measure.

Blog Ranking, in this case a whoppling 5,196 means I am 5,195 places away from the top.
