Building Your Army of Affiliates

I’ve about four months experience in affiliate marketing and during that time I’ve seen a number of different approaches to affiliate marketing.

I’ve come to the conclusion that unless you are very strong in promoting your own product, you will need to rely on your affiliates. Which is commonsensical.

But though it seems like you are relying on your affiliate, you also play a big part in their success, and by extension your own success.

Affiliates provide the ultimate leverage for any product creator.

You have an army of motivated individuals to promote your product or service.

You only pay them upon a successful transaction.

They work for you round-the-clock (especially if they’re scattered around the United States, Europe and Asia).

If you have the system running well, you’ll have a couple of sales every couple of hours.

Sadly though, I’ve seen many products crash and burn too. Continue reading

Affiliate Marketing Product Selection

As an affiliate marketer, you would have taken effort to build up and nurture your list.

No gardener would lovingly spend time growing his garden and suddenly indiscriminately drown his garden with bucketloads of water and fertilizer. The end result is that the plants will either drown in water, or be presented with so much fertilizer (a good thing) that it turns toxic.

However, this is often the issue with newer affiliate marketers.

They’ve built up a contact list over time, and perhaps with a judicious PPC (pay per click) budget.

And once they’ve built it to a decent size, they start drowning the list with every single affiliate product in their niche area. Continue reading

Building the “Me” Internet Marketing Brand

Something Super Affiliate Ewen Chia said to me about a month ago has stuck with me. (If you missed the post, it’s at Ewen Chia and building the ‘Me’ brand)

Ewen Chia and Andrew Wee

Super Affiliate Ewen Chia and Andrew Wee

This was during the Unstoppable Traffic workshop. In response to a fellow attendee, Gary Fu’s, question about running a PPC campaign for an affiliate marketing product, Ewen asked, “Why are you advertising for the product? You should be building up the “me” brand”.

All aspiring affiliate marketers should take heed from the Super Affiliate himself.

For your longterm success, you’d want to brand yourself.

Do whatever it takes to build your personal credibility and reputation.

List Building and List Raiding for Profit (and Fun)

Some Internet Markters harbor a sneaking suspicion that their list which they’ve studiously built up is being raided if they send out an offer like Mike Filsamie’s Death of Internet Marketing.

Somehow, they fear they might ‘sell out their list for a measly $1.

(And some even fear they might not receive that $1).

One thing I’ve learned from sales is if you don’t provide your prospect with a list of options available (even if it’s from a competitor) you risk losing the sale, and even worst the customer.

I agree that you’d want to protect your list, especially if you’ve spent previous PPC dollars building it up.

But consider this too. If you treat your list like a caged bird, your list members will flee the first chance they have. Continue reading

Battle and Beat Up Other Blogs and Build Traffic

I confess to having a latent violent streak in me.

That’s why you sometimes see me including phrases like ‘Kill the Competition’, ‘Slaughter the other Affiliates’ and ‘See their marketing campaigns crash and burn’.

I understand that Type A personalities have this particular drive to dominate and crush all competitors.

To quote Star Trek’s Borg Collective: “Resistance is Futile”.

I guess that’s why Blog Directory/Community Blog Explosion has their Battle of the Blogs section.

Battle of the Blogs

The rules are simple:

  • Members can set up a new challenge then waits until another BlogExplosion member accepts their challenge. Members can wager anywhere from 25-200 credits on a challenge
  • Once a challenge has been accepted 15 other members vote for both blogs. The person with the most votes wins the challenge and gets 70% of the total credits wagered. The 15 members who have voted on who is the best blog splits the remaining 30% of the total credits wagered. Spend some time on each blog and vote for the best blog!

So the process of going through the Battle ensures you have at least 15 uniques landing on your page for each challenge you participate in.

That potentially means you have 15 new opt-ins or prospects, depending on how you structure the blog. Continue reading

Allen Says’ MyWarriorNetwork Launched

I got an email from fellow Internet Marketer Steven Wong with an invitation to join the My Warrior Network.

Huh?

If you’re familiar with the Warrior Forum, a credible source of Internet Marketing information and the brainchild of IM guru Allen Says, Warrior Network seems to be a brand extension of that.

Although the marketing material states the benefits include:

  • Find someone you know who works for a particular company or in a certain industry
  • Find old friends and work colleagues
  • Buy and sell products and services or get advice and recommendations
  • Get credible introductions to decision makers through your new contacts
  • Publicize and find forthcoming Business and Social Events
  • Get referrals for new jobs or hard to find staff

I doubt there might be too much B2B or traditional brick-and-mortar business matchmaking there.

But I feel it’ll be a great community building site for those active or new to the warriors forum. Continue reading
