Friday Podcast – Growing Your Affiliate Program With Alice Seba

Alice SebaCanada-based Alice Seba would seem an unlikely candidate for an internet marketer.

With a bachelor’s degree in History and Archaeology, and a mother of 3 (the youngest just turned 4 months a couple of days ago…), Alice stumbled into the world of internet marketing while looking for opportunities to work from home.

Her “Internet Marketing Sweetie” product was one of the first I bought coming into the industry a couple of years ago, and it was a pleasure to have Alice on the podcast series.

During the session, we talked about:

  • How she got started in internet marketing and affiliate marketing experience
  • Tips for internet marketing beginners and some of her strategies in taking care of 3 young kids AND running her own successful online businesses
  • Should you author/create your own product?
  • Tips for promoting your own affiliate program
  • The ONE networking tip that will help you succeed in internet marketing

Paypal Account Phishing Scam Takes A New Twist

You’re probably already familiar with the old phishing scams where someone has passed away/fled a third world country/discovered some long-forgotten funds and needs your “help” to wire the money. For just a small “administrative” fee, the person will share the $15 million amount with you.

Though this online fraud has been exposed some time ago, people are still falling for it.

The latest scam has an interesting twist.

Here’s an email I received:

This looks pretty legitimate, however, checking on the hyperlinked address to “fix” this problem, it goes to “http://paypal.update-user-info[dot]com/index.htm”
Which is obviously intended to harvest your paypal login and password.

They probably won’t catch too many people with this trick, but still it pays to be careful.
Always check the originating domain and you’re unsure, go to the Paypal website and drop them an email.

Another Twitter Toy For Marketers: Twitter Grader and Twitter Elite

Deep down most marketers are stats junkies at heart. Even though we realize that your Alexa ranking may not mean a whole lot, especially since a number of Facebook games and applications have muscled their way into the top 50,000, we still look at our Alexa rankings every now and then.

So with micro-blogging platform Twitter providing API (application programming interface) access to developers, it was only a matter of time before a slew of twitter “stats” and “analytics” services made their way onto the market.

Do they really mean anything?

Is it statistically significant?

There’s still a big question mark in that area.

What has happened though is that these services have turned out to be great linkbait, and they seem pretty viral too, with various twitter users announcing/bragging about their “Twitter Elite” status (even if you are the top Twitter dawg in your village of 500….)

The Twittersphere has been abuzz with various users announcing their “Twitter Elite” status.

Evolution of a Blog: CashTactics.net

ruckI first got to meet Ralph “Ruck” Ruckman (right) on the internet marketing forums more than a year ago. He got some attention as an active poster on the Rich Jerk forum, and for blog posts on his CashTactics blog, such as the one where he mentioned making more thant $159,000 from one of his sites. (From about 17 hours of work).

Since then, he’s published more posts related to PPC traffic generation and CPA affiliate marketing. If you’ll read some of his posts like his Questions and Answers post:

His reply to the question about what he should have known as an internet marketer starting out is frank and uncensored: “That 99% of marketers writing ebooks to sell to other marketers are nothing but forum slime who copy other people’s ideas and steal the glory to make a penny. Had I known that when I started I would not have wasted a shitload of money”

Instead, the foundation of how he determines what works and what doesn’t isn’t by reading an ebook, but by testing it out. And it’s not just posts about how he made big money either. In an update to his testing, he removed the entrecard and scratchback blog widgets because they weren’t performing.

One major lessons that internet marketers wanting to be successful from their efforts is to continually research, test, analyze new campaigns and products and services. “Failing” once does not put you out of the game.

The other point is that blogging about the experience (good or bad), helps you Continue reading
