Going For The Big Bucks With Seasonal Niches

You’ll hear Internet Marketers perpetually talking about niches, and they’re usually centered around product or brand categories, such as the Nintendo Wii or Ps3 game consoles, or weight loss/hair loss products or ones related to diet and fitness.

But how about going beyond these to look at seasonal niches.

They could be underserved by Internet Marketers who might be clustered in the ‘traditional’ niches…

Take a look at the Google Trends charts for 3 holidays I’ve selected:google trends seasonal niches

While Christmas has high demand, it likely will have a huge number of marketers creating niche sites intended to cater to this holiday. So it likely will be as competitive as the product niches like weight loss.

Going by our gut feel, Valentine’s Day is a seasonal niche which will likely be overserved too. Continue reading

Do You Spend Too Much Time Blogging? Blog Strategically

A complaint I hear is that “blogging takes too much time”.

And then I find out the Internet Marketer has only filed one or two weeks worth of posts before giving up.

Here’s a strategy of developing blog content quickly.

  • Multitask

As you’re surfing the net for research, build a file of interest content, note down their URLs, network with your fellow Internet Marketers, catch up on trends.

  • Develop a Position/Opinion

Think of how the development affects you, or your niche. What is the impact, what are the implications? How will it affect your current plans. Come up with Continue reading

Upping Your Internet Marketing Productivity with Quiet Time

There’s a focus on getting maximum productivity to generate more traffic, build your list or developing more products.
After all, there’re only 24 hours in a day and rushing your product to the market, and building your community are priorities

But, there is value to taking a half hour out every day to use quiet time to think about your current projects.

Quiet time is NOT about sitting on your couch and watching TV.
Nor does it involve looking for a quiet corner with a six-pack.

Rather, it’s a form of Continue reading

MyBlogLog Responds: Message Posting Rules Being Tweaked

I was pleasantly surprised when I got an email from Robyn “Sleepy Blogger” Tippins, MyBlogLog’s new community manager (Robyn’s offical MBL post), less than 24 hours after posting “MyBlogLog Social Traffic Credibility and Attempts To Cripple Spammers“.

Here’s Robyn’s response to my feeling that posting 20 messages a day could be limiting:

Andrew, hopefully this won’t hamper users that are actually engaging in conversation, because everytime you receive a message back, you up your daily limit by one. So if I message you I have 19 messages available, but if you message me back, then my message limit goes back up to 20.

It’s only one method we’re trying, so if you have any suggestions let me know.

The concept of reciprocity is an intriguing one and goes one step further than just blanket quotas.

I think as time goes by, the messaging model will get refined further.

And it is forward thinking on my part that 20 messages would be insufficient for a community size of 1,000.

It would seem fair to incorporate gradual increments to the number of available messages to MyBlogLog members in good repute. That way, it’ll prevent MyBlogLog members from going out of the network to use email to communicate.

Here’s why MyBlogLog should increase message quotas: Continue reading

MyBlogLog Social Traffic Credibility and Attempts To Cripple Spammers

MyBlogLog can be a source of highly-targeted, relevant and free traffic if you know how to use it effectively.

But increasingly, spam marketers have been bombarding the social networking site, such that there is a toggle to view messages only from members of your social network (and cut out messages from non-members (potentially spammers).

MyBlogLog obviously views the matter seriously enough to take further measures.

Witness the latest salvo:

I was in the midst of posting messages to PepperJam’s Kris “Mr Pepperjam” Jones and Robyn Martin‘s MyBlogLog profiles. [To comment on the latest Meet the PepperJam Team video]

There’s now a daily message cap of about 20 messages sent per day.

[Check out the MBL blog post “Spam-a-lama-dama” for details]

In my opinion, MyBlogLog is one of the most, if not THE site, for Continue reading
