Podcast Session Notes:

  • What is podcasting?

It is a way of distributing audio content over the Internet.
Content is usually hosted on websites and blogs.

  • Why’s podcasting useful?

Podcasting – personalizes the user experience.

A major advantage over text-based blogging: podcasting conveys intangible qualities:
Readers typically better able to get a glimpse of the blogger or website owner’s personality.

You get a sense of how does the person sounds…and make inferences about their personality, education, intelligence.

These snap decisions may or may not be correct, nonetheless, first impressions do count.

It’s generally said that Continue reading

Does Onsite Event Blogging Provide Any Value? And Nicole Eggers Video Broadcasts

Sleepyblogger Robyn Tippins questions whether live blogging at the sidelines of an event has much value (Liveblogging Of Any Value To Those Not There?)

I can identify with her sentiment that: “I’m wondering (aloud I suppose) if I’m the only one who finds the typical disjointed, rambling liveblogging posts are of any real value to offsite readers?

Here’s my take:

It’s nothing to do with whether the blogging is live or not.

It has everything to do with your content and your presentation.

As an example, look at presenter Nicole Eggers on WebProNews.

Besides being very easy on the eyes, Nicole presents WebProNews updates throughout the day.

What makes readers continue to come back is the amount of useful information they get within the 2-4 minute video broadcasts.

No medium is perfect however, Continue reading

Launch of Laura Alter’s Blog

I first got to know of Laura Alter from PlanetAndrea (aka Andrea Schoemaker).

Laura attended the inaugural Elite Retreat and has been very successful in her brick-and-mortar computer business and is also owner of the popular NotebookForums site too.

Besides having 3 sweet kids (her 5 year old plays a mean game of warcraft), she’s pretty tech savvy.

Check out her blog:

Meeting Up With Backend Sale Guru Alex Nghiem

If you don’t already have a backend sale in mind as you launch your product, you’re potentially leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table…

The problem was that till now, there hadn’t been many resources available to address this need, which was what drove backend sale specialist Alex Nghiem to launch the Backend Cash Manuscript.

I had the opportunity to spend time with Alex on the sidelines of Matt Bacak’s Marketing Madness Live event in Atlanta, Georgia.

And it is astonishing how many marketers could easily have bumped up the value of their products by many times just by investing an incremental effort in their product development stage.

As a content creator, I know that it’s easy to get stuck in the ‘product creation’ mode and neglect to think out of the box for a moment, put in a few more hours and magnify the value of your product.

In a specific case study with a prominent Internet Marketer, Continue reading

Cutting MyBlogLog Spam With Your Cloak Of Invisibility

Social traffic is fantastic because:

  • It’s highly targeted
  • It’s immediate
  • It’s low cost and often free

The downside is because of it’s interactive nature (which contributes to it’s virality), spam marketers will always try to flood you, and drown out your message with their spam.

This includes, but is not limited to:

On social community sites like MyBlogLog, Eric and his team have instituted several measure like: limiting personal messages to 20 a day (with an innovative reciprocal message feature in place) , and eliminating animated GIF avatars in favor of single (static) image ones.

But that still doesn’t quite solve the problem of ‘widget spam’ where people with link baiting avatars feature on your sidebar widget that appears on the right of this blog.

Fortunately, MyBlogLog community manager Robyn Tippins informed me that MyBlogLog includes features to Continue reading

Value Creation and the Affiliate Marketing Big Buck Equation

Here’s a tip to up your Internet Marketing income, reduce refunds, and increase general goodwill toward info product marketing…

Going by the consensus for recent Internet Marketing guru launches, there has been a sense that many recent products have been underwhelming in their delivery.

And because buyers have the option of a 30 or 60 day refund period, you might have the funds in your account momentarily. You can expect a speedy refund if the product fails to deliver.

How would you ‘wow’ the customer, increase your community’s loyalty and ‘stickiness’?

Provide value.

Overdeliver on their expectations, be honest and true in your product review.

Rather than adopt the latest approach of:

  • Leveraging on the popularity of another product
  • Creating a pseudo “scam revealed!” product review (only to embed your product link later…)
  • Saying a lot of good things about a product you might not even have bought…

Instead, place Continue reading
