Blog Predictions 2007 – An Internet Meme

Every week, yet another journalist or online marketer predicts the Death of Blogging. Ironicially, sometimes these ‘predictions’ are made by bloggers.

Far from dying, there’s a resurgence in blogging, judging by the flow of private equity and growth of blog networks.

Just look at the nearly 1,200 submissions for the Round 5 submissions for the 9rules Blog Network or check the stats at the Blog Network List. Darren Rowse’s b5media blog network got a nice chunk of capital funding too.

2007 will see a further evolution of blogging as we know it.

Perhaps ‘blogging’ (a truncation of weblog) may evolve as a term to fully encompass what it represents.

Here’re 4 trends I see this year.

Offline to Online Content

Even without Amazon and Google’s efforts to digitize content for the Internet, a multitude of content publishers (more…)

List Yourself on the Affiliate Blog Directory

I was checking out community members who’d visited my blog over at MyBlogLog and checked out fellow Singapore Leonard Chen’s blog, especially his entry: Here comes the Affiliate Blog list.

It looks like Scott Jango might be on to starting something viral with his post: Have You Got An Affiliate Marketing Blog?

As you’re expect, the big guns of Affiliate Marketing: Ros Gardner, Shoemoney, Linda Buquet, Shawn Collins, Kris Jones, are already on the list, though I’d expect it’s just a matter of time before the likes of Ewen Chia, PlanetAndrea and Jon F appear too.

Social Networking 101: Use the Internet 5 Exposure Strategy to Fasttrack Your Internet Marketing Credibility

You’ve heard the axiom that it takes 7 exposures to establish trust and credibility before your prospect makes a buying decision.

Eg. A person sees a mention for a new beverage (eg. a horseradish-flavoured soda) on a website, sees a celebrity endorsement, receives a flyer in the mail, on 7 occasions before they buy it to try it out.

On the Internet, however, I feel it’s probably closer to 5 exposures before trust is established. Perhaps it’s due to the instant gratification, instant exposure and immediate deliverability nature of the medium that lends itself to this.

Harvest Keywords in Your Sleep And Make Big Money

Keywords are essential for all aspects of online marketing.

  • If you’re a blogger, you want to optimize your post titles and/or categories to include keywords so you can be found easily.
  • If you’re an affiliate marketer, the optimal keywords will help you target your paid ad to a searcher’s preferences.
  • If you’re an Internet surfer, type the right keywords into the search engine will ensure that you will find relevant information.
  • If you’re a product creator, you might like to create niche websites based around high value keywords.

A whole industry has sprung up around providing these keywords.

You have expensive software, with costs running into the hundreds as a norm, rather than an exception.

You have web-based services providing keywords for a monthly subscription.

But how would you like to harvest keywords in your sleep? (more…)

PayPerPost Acquires Performancing Assets

This news kind of blew me away when I read it.

Fresh in my inbox, advertising marketplace PayPerPost announced it has “signed a Letter of Intent to acquire select assets of Performancing LLC, operator of Performancing.com”

Although the acquisition cost was not mentioned, PayPerPost will gain blogging-related technologies such as Performancing Metrics, a free blog analytics service, and Performancing Exchange, an online “classifieds” for bloggers. (more…)
