I was surfing through Amazon and saw an interview with real estate mogul and star of The Apprentice, Donald Trump.
(Left-to-right) Donald Trump and Lee Iacocca
Asked: “Did you really make (former Chrysler CEO and Ford President) Lee Iacocca cry?”
The Donald answered: “No, he made himself cry.”
Amazon.com: Was there ever a time when you didn’t think big enough?
Trump: I don’t think so. I always had big plans, even when I was very young. I would build skyscrapers with my building blocks.

I met Chad Frederiksen (better known in affiliate marketing circles by his moniker “CDF Networks”) at the Blue Man Group show at the Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas earlier this year, and he came across as a very down-to-earth guy.
Which is a little surprising, given how successful he is as a PPC affiliate.
If you haven’t checked out his site yet, you might like to read his posts:
Doubtless his creativity and work ethic have played a part in feats like hitting the top 10 affiliates from CPA network Azoogle (now a division of Epic Advertising) 6 months after he started up his PPC -> affiliate campaigns.
His blog at CDFNetworks.com contains a treasure trove of PPC strategies, tips and case studies.
Since he already blogs in great detail about his tactics, I wanted to get a better idea of how his business system operates.
During our discussion, we covered:
- How you can get started as a PPC affiliate
- How Chad approaches his marketing campaigns, including a number of key techniques
- Chad’s recommendation on learning resources, especially if you’re a new affiliate
- Evaluation criteria on deciding which affiliate offer to promote
- How you can increase earnings from your PPC efforts
- How and why building destination sites will help grow your business

I first met PPC affiliate John Hasson at ShareASale’s “Party Under The Stars” party at Affiliate Summit West earlier this year. We were eating a heartattack-inducing tiramisu/ice-cream concoction and talking about our businesses.
John spoke at the “Meet The Experts” session chairing a table on PPC affiliate marketing. At the recent Affiliate Summit East in Boston, John presented a session on PPC marketing.
During the course of our discussion, I was pretty amazed at how John’s brought his programming skills to automate and employ leverage in PPC campaigns.
We also talked about:
- How John got started as a programmer early on and his first experience at generating $600 a day through PPC arbitrage
- How he made his transition into affiliate marketing
- Tips to succeed in PPC affiliate marketing
You can access the Friday Podcast below:
Note: John was travelling as part of a project he’s working on and the line dropped a number of times and the connection wasn’t the best. Listen in for some great tips though.

At the recent Affiliate Summit, Seer Interactive founder Wil Reynolds and SEO veteran presented some of his latest techniques in optimizing your website rankings in the search engines.
Affiliate Summit co-founder Shawn Collins recently uploaded Wil’s slides from his presentation together with other presentations and they can be access here: Affiliate Summit East 2008 presentation slides.
From his “My Favourite 5 SEO Strategies Exposed” session, one of the items Wil talked about was Google’s recent Knol, or knowledge aggregation site.
Located at Knol.google.com, the site seems like a combination of Squidoo in that users can create topic-focused resource pages, with the authority of a Wikipedia.

Shawn Collins has posted the seminar track presentations from Affiliate Summit Boston at the Affiliate Summit Blog, providing a wealth of resources and information for those in affiliate marketing as well as internet marketing.
Going through the various topics, it’s easy to add more tools to your marketing arsenal. At the same time, it will be prudent to avoid falling into the “one trick pony” pitfall.

Falling into the trap of seeing and then believing that a buzz technology, whether it’s twitter, seesmic, SEOQuake, or some other keyword, analytics or social media tool is going to transform your business.
